Dr. Heaton provides psychotherapy to individuals, families, couples and
children. He also works with adolescents and their parents to address issues
related to poor school achievement, responsibility issues, anger resolution and
other acting out behavior.
Dr. Heaton provides specialized psychological
evaluations for children and adults. Educational evaluations range from academic
and intellectual assessments for Special Education eligibility to assessments
for attention deficit, hyperactivity and memory concerns.
Psychological
evaluations utilize objective and projective measures to determine accurate
diagnosis of individual difficulties or mental illness. Specialized testing
related to risk for violence or sexual dangerousness is also available for
individuals or schools concerning forensic matters.

Dr. Heaton is a licensed Psychologist in Illinois and Indiana.
He has been in clinical practice for more than twenty years in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. He has extensive experience working with both individuals and couples in his outpatient private practice setting.
He has also worked with hospitalized individuals of all ages at several in-patient facilities. He currently maintains a clinical caseload with a diverse population of children, adolescents and adults.
Dr. Heaton continues to work with clients to address a wide range of relationship and other psychological difficulties, including depression, anxiety, impulsivity, substance abuse and sexuality issues.
He provides relationship and marital psychotherapy with an emphasis on the prevention of relationship violence and spousal abuse.
In addition, he has worked with several school districts to provide Educational and Psychological assessments for children, and adolescents, including academic assessments to determine Psychological Diagnosis, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and potential qualification for Special Education services.
