Things to know before your massage...
Many people feel uneasy about receiving their first massage. Here are a few guidelines to help you feel at ease and gain the most from your first treatment.
What do I wear?
We suggest casual attire that is comfortable and remove all jewelry.
Do I have to completely undress?
No. You decide to undress to the level you are comfortable with however most people undress completely to derive the highest benefit of a massage. We employ professional draping at all times. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered.
What does massage do - other than feel good?
Scientific research has now proven many of the healing aspects of massage. Just a few of the benefits are listed here:
- Rids body of toxins
- Assists digestion
- Causes the release of natural endorphins
- Promotes relaxation
- Helps break up and loosed subcutaneous scar tissue
- Decreases certain types of edema
- Helps to reduce the frequency of chronic headaches
What should I do after my massage?
Since massage brings clean, oxygenated and nourished fluids into your tissues and stimulates your body to purge toxins, it is important to flush them out by drinking plenty of water. Be aware of what you put into your body after your massage - especially caffeine, alcohol, high fats and refined sugars. They may have a stronger effect on you than normal.
